Math: Last week, we practiced finding the volume of rectangular prisms. This week, we will explore the units of volume and convert between them.
Science: The students took a "cells" quiz on Thursday and started studying the method scientists use to classify animals. We will continue this study and learn how viruses and bad bacteria are spread.
LA: The kids took the unit 2 spelling test on Friday and received the unit 3 word list. In grammar, the students practiced identifying vivid verbs in a text. They enjoyed writing a "scribble" story including vivid verbs and shared with their peers. This week, we'll study linking verbs and helping verbs.
Reading: In whole group, the lesson focus was identifying genres and the sub-genres of texts. This week, we will discuss the author's purpose for writing (persuade/inform/entertain). Now that I have all reading bench-marking scores, I'll begin placing kids in small reading groups. I'll start meeting with each group twice a week beginning mid week this week or Monday the following week.
